Buying here: five stages, one file, no forms

Nothing on this lot is prepared after you show interest. The car has already been sourced, cycled, corrected and written up, and the file we built while doing it is yours to read before you commit to anything.

The route in

How a car gets from an auction to your driveway.

Five stages, in this order, every time. The battery test sits second because it is the one that decides whether we keep the car at all — a pack that reads poorly ends the conversation there, and the car never reaches this site.

    Source

We buy from lease returns, fleet disposals and private owners, and we only take cars with a clean title and a readable battery history.

  2. 02

    2 of 5

    Battery test

A full charge and discharge cycle with cell-level logging: state of health, per-module deviation, DC charging curve, thermal behaviour and reported range against the EPA figure.

  3. 03

    3 of 5

    Software and recalls

Every open recall and service campaign is closed before listing, and the car is updated to the newest firmware the manufacturer allows.

  4. 04

    4 of 5

    Correction

Tyres, brakes, cabin filter, wipers, alignment, and the small things that make an electric car feel tired: bushings, dampers, steering feel.

The document you get first

A battery report, before the price conversation

A full charge and discharge cycle with cell-level logging: state of health, per-module deviation, DC charging curve, thermal behaviour and reported range against the EPA figure.

1,240 of these cycles have been run in our own bay. The report travels with the car whether you ask for it or not.

7 systems

Condition, scored not described

Battery and BMS, drive units, suspension, brakes and regen, body and paint, interior, software and charging. Average across the current stock is 91/100, and each car carries its own reading on its page.

Findings

The defect log is published

Every fault we found, how serious it is, and what we did about it. Items we chose to leave alone are photographed and priced into the asking figure rather than quietly corrected.

Range

Rated and measured, side by side

The EPA figure for the car and what it did on our 60-mile mixed loop, with the month and the temperature recorded next to it. Winter costs more; we would rather you had both numbers than the flattering one.

Deposits and holds

You do not pay to see the report.

The battery report, the defect log, the service records and the price go out by email with nothing asked for in return. A deposit comes later, when you have decided the car is worth holding, and it is refundable if the car turns out to differ from the file.

A hold takes the car off this site and out of the diary while the paperwork is arranged or while financing is settled. When a hold clears, the car goes back on the lot and back on the site the same day.

Because every one of these cars is a single unit rather than a trim level in a catalogue, we cannot order another one. If it is the car you want, say so early and we will hold it while you arrange the rest.

Turnover

33 days on the lot

That is the average across the current stock. The longest-standing car here has been with us longer than that, and it is priced accordingly — a car that sits is a car we will talk about.

In part exchange

A car you already own can be the deposit

We appraise electric cars and petrol cars the same way, from measurements rather than a book figure, and we will put the offer in writing against the car you are buying.

How appraisal works

Paperwork

The file that changes hands.

Two keys, the paper file, and the same documents by email if you would rather read them on a screen. Nothing in it is a surprise added at signing.

Title

A clean title, in hand, in our name. Where a car came from a lease return we say so, and the paperwork that came with it goes into your file.

Recalls

Every open battery, software and charging campaign is closed before the car is listed, and the dealer confirmation is printed and filed.

Service history

Every record we hold, dated and with the mileage at the time, including the work done in our own bay.

Buyers Guide

The federal window form for a used car, filled in honestly, together with the manufacturer warranty documents that transfer to you.

Handover

Handover

Charged to 80%, home charging plan written down, both keys, the paper file and the battery report in your inbox before you arrive.

Collect or delivered

31 states so far

You can collect from the lot or have the car brought to your address. Cars travel at 50–60% state of charge, which is what the packs prefer, and the battery report and charging plan reach you before the truck does.

Delivery and export

After you drive away

30 days of our own cover

Powertrain and charging system, on top of whatever manufacturer warranty still runs on the car. The federal battery warranty on most cars here is 8 years or 100,000 miles and it transfers with the car, not with the first owner.

What is covered

Before you sign

Financing, if you need it

Three routes, arranged by phone and email: a prime lender, a second-tier programme, or cash. This site takes no credit applications, and nobody here will ask you for a social security number in a web form.

How the money side works

House rules

What we hold ourselves to.

Battery data, not adjectives

State of health goes on every listing, with the test method and the date. A car with 89% health is sold as a car with 89% health.

Range you can reproduce

We publish the EPA figure and what the car actually did on our 60-mile mixed loop, in the season we tested it.

Recall work closed

No car leaves with an open battery, software or charging recall. The paperwork proving it goes in the file.

Charging plan included

You get a written plan for your house before you sign: what to install, what it costs, and whether you need it at all.

Buying / enquiry

Ask for the file on the car you are looking at

Give us the stock number and we send the battery report, the defect log, the service records and the exact price. If the honest answer is that this car is wrong for your week, that is what the reply will say.

Answer within four business hours, from the technician who ran the battery test.

Sample data — brand, telephone, email and address are placeholders until the business record is supplied.
